Kamala Harris Storms onto the Scene (to Donald's Dismay)

A few other bloggers have already used this infamous line, so I'm really stealing it here. But given the circumstances, it's so good and no other phrase can sum up what we've witnessed as a nation and electorate the past few weeks:

"There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen"--Vladimir Lenin.

Clarity helps. A couple things to remember: Donald Trump survived the assassination attempt; President Joe Biden, on the other hand, couldn't stave off internal party dissent and will not survive atop the Democratic ticket, and VP Kamala Harris is almost assuredly going to step in to assume the nomination. It hasn't even been 24 hours yet, and somehow this all seems preordained; the only logical place we could end up.

Time is of the essence. The actual election is in like 12 weeks. Vice President Harris will need a Veep herself now. I'll throw my hand in the air with Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker as an extremely strong candidate from my home state. Why the heck not.

A few points on what took place yesterday. We do not have kings here. The Biden family learned this. While I like the president and am grateful for his service to our country, let's not mince words: he was, according to widespread reports, putsched out by Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, George Clooney and dozens of other Left-leaning liberals from his own party. Ironically, and lost in all this, is the sad fact there really wasn't a primary or lead-up election. A few people ended up making this decision. Certainly not me or you, or your neighbors or even the Teacher's Union or a bunch of college students. Maybe we do have kings here, after all.

Truly, though, you can't get very far in this country without the right people behind you. Joe Biden no longer had that. As Congresswoman Pelosi reportedly said this weekend: "We can do this the easy way. Or the hard way." The President chose the former because the latter had become a foregone conclusion; an inevitability. In the end, he fired himself. It was the only move left on the chessboard.

My own view, not that anyone should care, is the election will be closer than most people think. Ms. Harris, a former prosecutor, needs to demonstrate she has the gravitas to be the leader of the free world. If she can reasonably persuade a few million middle of the road voters in places like Georgia, Virgina, Ohio, Mighigan, Pennsylvania and Nevada she is up the to the task, the job is hers. Now, wouldn't the be something. Who saw that happening a fortnight ago.

Who is Kamala Harris. How did she get here. Is she up to the job. We're about to find out. I wish her the best of the luck. There will be good days and bad for her ahead. Same for her main opponent. There will be no letup in the drive to November.
